1. We don’t like this man’s policy.    We don’t think he’s telling the truth.

  G               F              C                              G         F                    C

He’s in the pay of unspeakable slime.  His velvet tongue hides a shark’s tooth.

               D             F     G                      D            F                        G

But his voice is so reassuring  that we want the words to make sense.

               D          F                    C                      G  F  C  G F C

And we vote for him cause we like his confidence.

2. In an artsy bar, a smart woman  is watching her date converse.

           G                   F           C                                   G                      F          C

She’s promised herself she won’t get involved with men who seem too well rehearsed.

            D            F                  G                      D                        F                G

But he keeps on saying he’s sensitive.  After four drinks, she still feels tense,

            D          F            C                         G  F  C  G F C

and it feels so good to relax in his confidence.

Bridge:  When he gets rude and mean  you say you like his spunk,

         D      E        F#                              G      F#

while I try really hard; you don’t even thank me.

                  D     E           F#      D           E       F#

Well it’s a thin line between  a bastard and a hunk

       G                                                                               A      A#     G  F  C  G F C

and he can bring it off, and I can’t  and that makes me angry.

                   G               F      C                 G                      F                      C

3. This commercial is so insulting;  the sound blares to break your eardrum.

        G                F                 C                            G          F          C

The product’s claims are so ludicrous - do they really think I’m that dumb?

                    D            F                G                D              F            G

But when I see that brand on the counter,  a voice like a distant friend’s

           D               F                   C                          G  F  C  G F C

says “You know me - come on into my    confidence.”
